Every day women are beaten, slapped, punched, raped, and psychologically abused.
—– “Domestic violence is the leading cause of injury to women between the ages of 15 and 44 in the United States, more than car accidents, muggings, and rapes combined. *
25% of all women have at one time or another been subject to domestic violence.
——1 in 4 women (24.3%) and 1 in 7 men (13.8%) aged 18 and older in the United States have been the victim of severe physical violence by an intimate partner in their lifetime.[iv] **
Not too happy about the House vote on the AHCA today. It has the appearance of a rushing to hurry up and repeal the ACA because they “said they would”; and, it contains language that specifically leaves the door open for insurers to charge potentially un-payable premiums and fees to individual sick persons.
“Preexisting conditions” is a vague and ambiguous, non-legal term, actually…apparently. Apparently the term may be defined differently by individual states and/or insurers. Apparently the following conditions have been found to be “preexisting conditions” on occasion, in the past —
*** Sexual assault – because it can put people at a higher risk for mental-health issues and substance abuse.
**** Domestic violence – because it can lead to a higher need for mental and physical health care.
